Without well trained teachers the quality of education offered to the children can only be very basic. It is our intention to offer scholarships to the most promising students in the village so that they can go on to be well trained. The condition of the scholarship would be that they return for a minimum period of 2-3 years to teach in Sindiru.
Teacher Training will be conducted under the Auspices of Solidarity for
S. Sudan www.solidarityssudan.org an organisation that is currently training both teachers and nurses against all odds. Most of the staff are retired teachers and principals of schools – some from Australia and New Zealand, some from the USA and some from other neighbouring countries. The cost per student, per year is $3,200 US, which includes board and tuition fees. No one is turned away because of insufficient means if they have the ability. We are planning to send two students from the village in March 2017 thanks to the generosity of two private donors and some fundraising events in the later part of 2016. The money for the building of the school – currently $60,000 - will be held over until the political situation stabilises and building can begin in safety.
